Where to start?! I guess the beginning is the best place… Em (Emily) and I met back in 2004 when we were both going through flight school and were just beginning advanced training for helicopters down in Pensacola, Fl. Very long story short, we ended up being scheduled together for our first solo cross country flight… i.e. by ourselves. Whomever signed off on this must have been out of their mind! Without too many issues (being held outside of the airspace while running low on fuel) we made it safely back to base! Even though she ended up flying Phrogs (Ch-46s) and I Hueys (UH-1Ns), we have remained friends. 🙂 We didn’t often see one another as we had opposite deployment cycles. Our lives are continually taking us to different places, but since the birth of our girls… and I say it like that as her daughter was born about a week or two before Madyson, we have remained in touch and while it may be years at a time from seeing one another we never seem to miss a beat and have remained friends despite the solo flight down in Florida. 😉
Em is expecting her second daughter in just a few weeks and asked if I would take maternity and family photos for her. Not a chance I would have said no! Here are a few pictures of her and her beautiful growing family!
Margie and Kris met while attending Longwood University. Kris has known my husband, Kevin, since they were in Alpha Sigma Phi together. To merely say they are “brothers” would be an understatment. We consider them part of the family!
When Margie mentioned that she wanted their maternity photos done at Maymont Mansion in Richmond, Virginia, I first had to look it up. After doing so, I immediately got excited! The grounds looked amazing, I love old stone buildings and beautiful doors! We spent a good part of the morning walking around the grounds near the Hampton Street Gate Entrance. Even though it was only 10am, it was hot, humid and sticky. Oh how I have missed Virginia. 🙂 Despite the heat, they were troopers and we got some good shots. I cannot wait to meet the little one (boy or girl we do not know as they are holding out for the arrival)! 🙂
I have lived in the northern Virginia area for most of my life. How did I not know about Burke Lake Park? Not far from Old Towne Occoquan, this place has an ice cream parlor, playground, trails for both runners and bikers, an amphitheatre, golf, miniature golf, a carousal and even a small train that you can ride for $2.50 per person! This place would be great for children birthday parties! The only problem was finding a way to the lake itself. We could see it, just couldn’t seem to get to it. And if you know me, this doesn’t surprise you.
As we meandered around the trail looking for a way to the water, we happened across a little path that led to a beautiful green field and an amazing view of the train as it and it’s passengers passed by. Tessa and Maggie loved watching the train and waving to all of the people. I had such a great time photographing these two. Tessa, who is about 2 and 1/2 years old has a personality anyone would fall in love with. And Maggie is about 8 months old and just as sweet as can be. Thank you Jen for allowing me to photograph your beautiful little girls.
Shannon and Neil are parents to an adorable little boy, Neil Jr. When they found out they were expecting their second one, they decided to do as they had done with the first, not find out the gender until the day he or she was born. The baby was not early, nor on time. Many of us kept checking Facebook to see if there had been any news. (everyone was speculating, hoping and on pins and needles to hear if it was a girl) so when the day finally arrived and Grayce made her appearance, everyone was celebrating along with the blessed couple.
I met Lori at a WINK meeting not too long ago. She seemed quiet and reserved, so when I was able to get her twirling around in a dress I was ecstatic! She is beautiful inside and out. We had a great time at Balboa Park (once we found parking). As we walked, we came across this cool little courtyard with multi-colored tiles and adorable little shops. Very artsy and I loved it!
The reason for the shoot… Lori struggled with weight but after losing almost 45 lbs., she decided to become a Certified Health Coach. Her services are free to those on the Take Shape for Life program. She wants to help others achieve their goals so, if you would like to chat with her, she can be reached at www.HealthCoachLori.tsfl.com
Doesn’t she look AMAZING?! Cover Girl may be calling soon Lori. 🙂
Here are a few photos from a gorgeous afternoon spent over at Coronado with Marie, William and William Jr.
